In response to the Canterbury earthquakes of September 2010 and February 2011, The Twinkle Child Foundation reached out to help the children of Christchurch Hospital. In total, $3343 was raised for Christchurch Hospital's childrens ward.
In May 2011, The Twinkle Child Foundation sent Christchurch Hospital a $2000 grant to help fund their award winning "Play With a Purpose" packs for children.
Christchurch Hospital's "Play With a Purpose" are proven by scientific studies to reduce stress amongst children in hospital care. The packs look great too! Each pack is a brightly coloured bag with handles, holding four or five toys targeted for the child's age. Playdough, bubble wands, felt pens and stickers are examples items that could be found in a bag; there are many types of bags to cater for different children's interests.
These packs won the 2008 Canterbury District Health Board's Quality Improvement and Innovation Awards.
In July 2011, The Twinkle Child Foundation sent Christchurch Hospital's childrens ward $1250 worth of toys. These toys will be used in hospital play areas, and also as gifts to children who may be worried or frightened. We really hope to brighten up their day.
The toys donated include ty beanie teddies, a variety of balls, toy cars, trucks and fire engines, barbie sets, toy jewellery sets, colouring books, stickers, craft materials, felt pens, zhu zhu toy pets, and many many more.
A big thank you to TOYWORLD Onehunga who generously allowed us to purchase these toys at cost price.

The Twinkle Child Foundation volunteers from Auckland Grammar School, Epsom Girls Grammar School, Dilworth School, Diocesan School for Girls, St Kentigern College, and the University of Auckland came together for a weekend to support the children of Christchurch Hospital through a street appeal.
Saturday proved to test the volunteer's determination as the weather turned wet and windy in the afternoon. Nevertheless, our dedicated volunteers pressed on.
In contrast, Sunday's weather was brilliant, the sun was shining, and with people in a good mood, we all had a great time collecting donations.
Over the weekend, $3343 was raised for Christchurch Hospital - an outstanding result above anything we had initially anticipated. Thank you so much to all our awesome volunteers. Your efforts have certainly paid off, and many children will benefit from the help you've given.
